Positive Images

This summer, for the second year, Hope Station and the Borough of Carlisle Parks and Recreation Department sponsored the positive images program which provided local kids with educational and recreational activities; Carlisle professionals acted as mentors. Daily activities included: guest speakers, field trips, reading, sports, and other group activities. Last year's program, June 10-August 2, included mentors representing Allfirst Bank, Bosler Free Library, and the Army War College.

Positive Images' mentors facilitate children's development in taking responsibility, being cooperative, active participation, and acquiring a positive attitude. The evaluation of the children's progress leads to them receiving rewards, such the trip to Hershey Park that culminated last year's program. About 40 kids participated in last year's program. This year's program took into account feedback from most of the participants' families.
